PAJU CONDEMNS FIRE-BOMBING OF PALESTINIAN HOME, CALLS FOR INTENSIFICTAION OF BOYCOTT,DIVESTMENT, SANCTIONS CAMPAIGN
Montreal, August 1st, 2015
Palestinian and Jewish Unity (PAJU) condemns yet another brutal crime committed against a Palestinian family by Jewish settlers, this time in the West Bank village of Duma resulting in the death of an eighteen-month old infant – burned alive – and third-degree burns to much of the bodies of the infant’s mother, father and young brother all of whom remain in critical condition. PAJU offers its deepest sympathies to the beleaguered family.
Said Bruce Katz, spokesman for PAJU: ‘ This is one more manifestation of the culture of impunity which reigns in the occupied West Bank where Jewish settlers commit crimes against the Palestinians on a regular basis under the watchful eyes of Israeli soldiers who, in some cases, provide support for the settlers or simply stand by and let the crimes happen. For decades now, the government of Israel has enacted a system of state-sponsored terrorism against the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories with the resulting culture of impunity which continues to reign there. The State of Israel bears the ultimate responsibility for these crimes.’
PAJU reminds the public that of crimes committed against Palestinian civilians by Jewish settlers, less than ten percent of these crimes ever find their way into an Israeli court.
(1) PAJU calls for an intensification of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel as being the only non-violent way of putting an end to Israeli apartheid. It is clear that a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will not come from within Israel itself.
